Lego City Undercover, which comes out next month for the Nintendo Switch, will require the internet in order to download a mandatory 13GB patch. This open-world adventure originally debuted on the Wii U, and now publisher Warner Bros. Interactive is bringing it back on the Switch as well as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. But while you will likely have plenty of space to install the game on the PS4 or Xbox hard drives (as you do with all games on those systems), you may quickly run out of space on the Switch.

Apparently the retail version won't require a download as large as 13 GB. As per most games, there will be a content patch that needs to be downloaded, but it wasn't specified how large that would be. You also don't require a constant internet connection to play.
This could be for a bunch of various reasons. My initial guess would be a day one patch, but the front of the game box does mention that an internet connection is required. More likely is that WB Games cheapened out on cartridge size and is forcing users to download necessary files.
